AIM

The function of this Turla machine is to decrease the profile temperature through water spray or air or a limited combination of both on the aluminium profile being extruded

ADVANTAGES

Through a PLC and frequency inverter you modulate the overall air flow from 0 to 100% and store this in a recipe connected to the die numer or profile code. This will be recalled once the same product is about to be produced.

The Quench mod. QA-H consists of two main parts:

  • The Hood;
  • The Lower Basin. The Hood: Most of the hood and bottom part is made of stainless steel AISI 304. When the puller has to get to the press platen, the quench hood together with its overhead air/water ducting is raised. When the quench hood is in the upper position a pneumatic safety lock pin will secure the hood and prevent it from falling.At the beginning and the end of the quench air blades are provided to minimize water exhaust out of the quench.When the quench will work in air mode only, an internal pressure release system will allow air to escape from the quench; The Lower Basin: The lower part will be we equipped with idle rollers for profile movement. A built-in water collection system will collect the water at the bottom of the quench before it is delivered to the primary water collection tank (not supplied); IMPORTANT REMARK

  • Main water tank;
  • Heat exchanger;
  • Softening system;
  • Secondary circuit;
  • Cooling towers;

High performance air-cooling of the profiles In the quench structure there are 3 upper air ducts powered by a single large air blowing station that feeds the three air nozzles located at the top, right and left of the profile. Through a PLC and frequency inverters it is possible to regulate the overall air flow from 0 to 100%, so that air delivery can be varied according to the shape, mass and symmetricity of the profile. Settings are created for each profile to optimize cooling and maximize extrusion speed. Built-in flaps will adjust the air flow from each of the three top air ducts (top, right and left). A dedicated air blowing station will provide the air inlet to the bottom part only. High performance water spray cooling Water spray nozzles are installed in rows all around the profile. Each side (top, bottom, right and left) is individually controllable through the PLC so that homogeneous spray patterns over the cross section of the profile can be obtained. The fixed lower part of the quench will take the water coming from the spray nozzles and will recycle it in the circuit system. A dedicated water network with a pump will independently feed the quench. Through this high-pressure pump and the selected type of nozzle, a water spray effect will be produced. Water spray nozzles can be changed to other angles and configurations.
